TRT 1's flagship Saturday night drama Gönül Dağı has sparked widespread concern among fans following an unexpected drop in ratings during its newly launched 7th season. Having premiered on September 5, the beloved Anatolian series is facing severe competition on prime time television, triggering backstage speculation regarding a possible early finale.
Why Did Season 7 Ratings Drop for Gönül Dağı?
The core reason behind the viewer fatigue points to the recent significant time jump introduced this season. Shifting the spotlight from the classic trio—Taner, Veysel, and Ramazan—toward their grown-up children divided loyal audiences. Viewers have voiced frustration over losing the iconic warmth, inventions, and pure rural humor that defined previous seasons.
Additionally, competing networks have intensified their Saturday lineup with fresh dramas, eroding the show's dominance. Despite rumors of an early cancellation circulating across social media platforms, network insiders indicate that TRT 1 and production house Köprü Film have no plans to pull the plug prematurely. Instead, screenwriters are re-centering the storyline back around the original leads to regain former ratings.
